San Francisco Election Guide

Basic Principles

Mayor

Ranking:

  1. London Breed
  2. Daniel Lurie
  3. Mark Farrell
  4. Ahsha Safai
  5. Aaron Peskin

Justification:

District 5 Supervisor

Vote for: Bilal Mahmood

  • Mahmood is running against Dean Preston, who has a history of opposing housing projects.
  • Mahmood is in favor of banning cars from central downtown areas and prioritizing buses over car traffic by creating bus-only lanes. He also wants more bike share and scooter share companies in the city. He believes we spend too little on bus, bike, and transit infrastructure.
  • He wants to end bus staffing shortages by streamlining the process for becoming a bus operator, increasing bus frequencies.

District 1 Supervisor

Vote for: Marjan Philour

There are two candidates with a chance of winning: Connie Chan and Marjan Philour

  • The incumbent, Connie Chan, voted against car-free JFK and opposed the Great Highway park. She has blocked housing projects that are not 100% affordable, and as a result her district has a severe shortage of housing.

District 3 Supervisor

Vote for: Danny Sauter

There are three candidates with a chance of winning: Danny Sauter, Moe Jamil, and Sharon Lai.

  • Moe Jamil is the pro-car candidate. He does not think buses should be prioritized over car traffic. He opposes bike share. He would act to slow down MUNI and make our roads more congested.
  • Sharon Lai says the right things, but she is endorsed by NIMBY, anti-housing politicians such as Aaron Peskin.
  • Danny Sauter is pro transit and pro housing, and wants to spend more on public transportation, car-free spaces, and a city-wide bike network.

District 7 Supervisor

Vote for: Myrna Melgar

There are two candidates with a chance of winning: Myrna Melgar and Matt Boschetto.

  • Melgar has supported housing developments and opposed limits on housing density. She has supported car-free JFK and voted to close the Great Highway to cars entirely.

District 9 Supervisor

Vote for: Trevor Chandler

There are three candidates with a chance of winning: Roberto Hernandez, Trevor Chandler, and Jackie Fielder.

  • Roberto Hernandez does not see transportation as a priority for the city.
  • Jackie Fielder has the right ideas on transportation, but is endorsed by NIMBY candidates such as Aaron Peskin.
  • Trevor Chandler is in favor of building all types of housing, building a city-wide bike network, and prioritizing bus traffic.

District 11 Supervisor

Vote for: Michael Lai

There are three candidates with a chance of winning: Chyanne Chen, Ernest Jones, and Michael Lai.

  • EJ does not support expansion of bike share and creating car free spaces downtown.
  • Chyanne Chen is backed by NIMBY, anti-housing politicians such as Peskin.
  • Michael Lai wants to increase pedestrian safety by enforcing traffic laws, wants to build more housing of all types, along transit corridors, and in favor of building a city-wide bike network.
